A&A Oil Recovery Co. offers a complete list of services for UST's (Underground Storage Tanks) and AST's (Above ground Storage Tanks). We cover everything from removals, installations and abandonments. Scroll down for an overview of exactly what each
service is, their benefits and a step-by-step process of what it takes to get the job done. The photos provided are of real jobs peformed by us. We have all the personel and neccesary equipment to complete and tank service with no sub-contracting needed.

Tank Removal

     General Overview (UST)

Removal of a UST consists of using a vacuum truck to pump out any liquid inside the tank. Once pumped, we excavate the ground to the grade level of the tank. We then remove a section of the tank to allow us access to its interior. Once opened, we enter the tank and begin cleaning the sludge from the interior. The tank is then removed with all
associated piping and the soil is returned to the previous grade. After inspection* and the tank is taken away for proper disposal,
a certificate and manifest will be provided following the completion of the removal.

There is funding available for NJ homeowners with non-leaking UST tanks from the NJ EDA.

Under NJ regulations (underground tanks) we are obligated to notify the NJDEP spill hotline if we discover confirmed leakage/spillage to the environment. If the tank has to be removed due to leakage and/or soil contamination, we will discuss any available options with you at the time of the discovery.

*Inspection must be done by an authorized town inspector BEFORE the tank can be disposed of.

     General Overview (AST)

Removal of an AST is very similar to our UST service. Like with a UST we begin having a vacuum truck to pump out any liquid inside the tank. Once pumped, we remove a small section of the tank. Afterwards, we physically enter the tank and begin cleaning the sludge from the interior. Once inspection* is done and the tank is removed with all associated piping, a manifest and tank disposal reciept will be provided following the completion of the removal.

*Inspection must be done by an authorized town inspector BEFORE the tank can be disposed of.

Tank Abandonment

     General Overview (UST Only)

Abandonment of UST's consists of using our vacuum truck to pump out and liquid inside the tank. Then we excavate the ground to the grade level of the tank, then remove a section of the tank for entry inside. Like with tank removal we must enter the tank and clean the sludge from the tank's interior. Following a thorough cleaning, the tank must be inspected before anymore work can be done. Upon completion of an inspection, the tank will be filled with clean fill (usually QP Stone) and the soil will be returned to the previous grade. A certificate and manifest will be provided following the completion of the abandonment.

Our company recommends to remove all UST tanks, unless circumstances make it difficult to do so. Tank Abandonments may not qualify you for your insurance, house sales or grant approvals.

Tank Installation

We install a wide variety of tanks from inside your basement to outside AST's or UST's. We also provide services for re-piping and repairing existing tanks. Scroll down for information and specifications on some of the tanks we install.

     Roth Tanks

We are certified to install Roth Fuel-Oil Tanks. Roth tanks meet the strictest safety standards and exceed the most recent industry safety regulations. Quality control of the finished tanks are carried out according to ISO 9001 standards, ensuring consistently superior quality and peace of mind. Each tank undergoes thorough testing, including ultrasound tests to ensure optimal thickness of plastic, and pressure testing to ensure the tank is sealed completely. Roth tanks can be used for heating oil or diesel fuel. Roth tanks are AST type tanks only.
